FAQ

What is the COVID-19 and mask policy? 

As of March 1st, 2022, masks will be optional in the Student Union as long as the risk is at appropriate levels. The conference will follow all COVID-19 policies in place at the time following state standards.  To see updates from the University of Akron,  see this page

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

We will issue refunds  lesser $15  per ticket for processing charges up  to March 25th, 2022.  You may transfer registration to another student until April 1st, 2022 at 7:00 pm. 

 

How long are the early-bird prices available?

Early bird registration is available until March 11th. After that, the fees will be increased.

Can I compete in competitions without paying for general admission?

No, you must purchase the General Admission ticket in order to compete in any of the competitions. 

 

What floor cover will be used for ChemE car?

We will be using RAM board covered in poly sheeting.

What is the latest I can ship the chemicals for ChemE Car?

You must factor in the time for shipping and acceptance of delivery. It can take 2-4 weeks depending on the service provider. Please ship by March 14th as the latest date to ensure the chemicals are there on time. If not, you may have to pay to expedite the shipment.

What is the latest I can register for Poster/STPC?

March 25th is the deadline to register as a competitor in the Research Poster Competition or the Student Technical Presentation Competition.

What is the latest I can register my team for ChemE Jeopardy?

March 30th is the deadline to register as a competing team in the ChemE Jeopardy Competition. 

 

What is the deadline for General Admission/Banquet?

General Admission sales will end on April 1st, 2022 by 7:00 pm

What does the ChemE Car Team Member Registration Include?

Every individual member of ChemE Car must purchase the $35 personal ticket that includes food & beverage for the entire day (7:00 am-3:00 pm) The registration is due by 4/7/22.  If the tickets are not purchased by this time on-site registration will be allowed for an increased fee of $45/ticket. If your member already has general admission, they do not need to purchase this in addition.

Where / when should we check in?

Check in will begin Friday night during the hours of the Friday night social from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Student Union Game Room. Saturday check in will begin at 7:15am and will be open until 5:00 pm outside of the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Student Union. . 

 

Will on-site registration be available?

Yes, on-site registration will be available. We will have a QR code at the check in table that will lead you to the registration page. Please purchase the on-site admission and enter your details there. The price for general admission on-site registration will be $80.

What should I bring for the Career/Grad Program Recruitment Fair?

Bring printed copies of your resume and your best self! Companies attending include: RoviSys Building Technologies, Avient, Charter Next Generation, Schaeffler Group USA,  NFM Welding Engineers, Inc., and Case Western Reserve University. This event will be placed ifrom 12:00-1:30 pm in the hallways near the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Student Union. Be prepared to talk to the company representatives and goodluck!

My ChemE Car couldn't ship chemicals in time / had technical performance issue, what should I do?

Do not fret! Just because your car can't perform this year, does not mean that you can't share your progress. Please consider still participating in the poster competition to get feedback from the judges.

Can we come and watch ChemE Car Competition?

Of course! Feel free to enter the Student Recreation and Wellness Center any time between 12:00-3:00 pm. We will have check in tables upon entrance. In order to enter, you must fill out this safety waiver. Please have this form filled out so you can show the helper at the check in table along with your general admission ticket.

What is the dress code for the conference?

The dress code is business casual, but leaning more casual. We can suggest to wear jeans, khakis, dress pant, etc. along with a nice shirt.
